Blithe Spirit, which was originally brought to the stage during wartime back in 1941 has seen a return. This comical ghost story lifted audience’s spirits at a time when morale was low and so it seems apt that the play should return during these gloomy economic times.
The play sees Charles, a novelist and his wife Ruth entertaining their guests with as séance, which leads to comedic results. One of which being the return of Charles’ troublesome first wife being brought back from the dead. The play has big names among its cast such as Rupert Everett who plays Charles, and Angela Lansbury who plays the medium.
Angela Lansbury who is now 83 steels the most laughs with her comedic performance, proving that you are never too old to take to the stage.
If you want to see a play that will leave you smiling the Blithe Spirit will be playing at the Shubert theatre in Broadway until 19th July.
