British born actress Natasha Richardson died from head injuries just before midnight last night. Richardson who was only 45 had what appeared at the time to be a minor injury while taking a supervised ski lesson on a beginners slope at a resort in Quebec. An hour later she started to feel unwell and last night she died at the Lenox Hill hospital in New York with her family by her side.

Richardson who was from the famous theatrical Redgrave family had starred in a few films such as the remake of Parent Trap and Maid in Manhattan but she was most famous for her roles on stage. She first tread the boards on Broadway in 1993 in “Anna Christie” and six years later she won the Tony for best actress in a Musical while starring in Cabaret.

Richardson’s husband and actor Liam Neeson was filming in Toronto when he heard the news of his wife’s accident and flew to be by her side. Neeson and the couple’s two sons were by her side along with mum Vanessa Redgrave when she passed away.

Many tributes have been paid and it is rumoured that the lights will be dimmed on Broadway in a mark of respect to the actress.
