We all know what it’s like during intervals at the theatre. You only have time to do one thing. You can either spend your time in a massive cue to the toilets due there only be two cubicles available for an audience of 100’s or you can spend forever waiting at the bar. When you’ve finally got your drinks the interval is over, the play starts but you cannot take your drink to your seat. You either have the choice of leaving your drinks and returning to the play, or finishing your drink and missing the first ten minutes of the second half. Whichever decision you make it’s not ideal.
What I can’t decide is if the intervals need to be longer or if the theatres need to offer better service. In truth it’s probably a bit of both but one thing which I think could help the situation is to introduce drinks machines in the theatre bars.
I realise that this isn’t the classiest of way to get your drinks during the interval and drinking out of can instead of a glass while at the theatre may not be for everyone, but being able to get soft drinks from a can machine would help free up the bar for those who are wanting to buy an alcoholic drink.
It makes sense to me. What do you think?
