Theatre Advertising - Promotional Products and Services

17 12 2008

Theatres often utilise their huge audiences to cash in on advertising, but not in the sense of Coca Cola ads or other everyday products. Instead they choose a more subtle route of advertisement, for example distributing leaflets for upcoming shows or events.

However, it isn’t simply limited to handing out flyers, movie-style posters are also often utilised to promote new acts. This helps to entice people into returning to the theatre. Not only does it help bring in current customers, but it usually entices new visitors.

The other side of using posters, leaflets and similar promotional products is raising awareness of touring shows or acts. So even if you don’t visit it at that particular theatre, it might help to spread the excitement to other theatres in towns and cities nationwide.

A particularly good form of advertising is utilising custom promotional products, especially if they relate to the show somehow. This can be anything from as simple as balloons with the show title written on them or even retainable goods like badges, key rings and stationery. Sometimes more expensive goods, such as wallets or clothing, are used to really push a specific feature act.

So next time you visit the theatre just take a look around and just look at how much effort gets put into advertising current and future shows.
