The communications team at York Theatre Royal have been presented with the prestigious Theatre Management Award for Outstanding Achievement in Marketing at the TWA Awards in London, despite the fact that the team has only worked together for one year - which is a real credit to them.
The award is intended as a recognition of novel and engaging PR and marketing campaigns in theatre and indeed can be taken as a measure of the success of such campaigns. The award also seeks to celebrate the importance of theatre in the UK and to promote better marketing within and for the performing arts.
Although apparently “overwhelmed” by the recognition of the award, the communications manager, Mr. Duncan Clarke, was magnanimous in his acceptance of it, saying that the award belonged to every single staff member at the York Theatre Royal, all of whom “contribute something valuable to giving audiences a wonderful time”
The theatre’s success, said Mr. Clarke, is down to how “incredibly creative” its employees are and how well they work together.
Mr. Clarke went on to say “it’s brilliant to be recognised by the leaders of our industry, and it’s great to have a big glass award to show off to people too!”
